Nicki Minaj threatened to shoot Mariah Carey

Given the smirk on the face of Mariah’s posse, I would say that Nicki threatening to shoot Mariah is just another reality TV ploy.

American Idol‘s newest judges will prove to be a massive mistake or pure genius. and have been reported to be going at it on set, having blow-up after blow-up. Peep the video of Nicki cursing Mariah out on the American Idol set (video courtesy of TMZ.com).

Things have apparently escalated. Earlier this week, Nicki allegedly threatened to shoot Mariah if she had a gun. Long sigh. Long long sigh.

Let’s be serious. Had Nicki Minaj seriously threatened to shoot Mariah Carey, wouldn’t she be fired? And possibly arrested? Wouldn’t Mariah have demanded they fire Nicki and revoke her contract for making threats? None of that has happened so I’m going to take this situation to be classic asinine behavior done in the name of the evil that is reality TV. Mariah Carey’s response has been to enhance her diva-ness and hire bodyguards and an umbrella holder; which must be bullet proof because that reason I could come up with as to why this would be necessary.

Let’s be serious again, because everyone is thinking it.This is all a ploy for ratings. What’s sad is that these two are joining the reality TV circus and making fools of themselves to help American Idol boost it’s ratings. Mariah and Nicki both have multi-million dollar contracts with American Idol and if I didn’t know better. I would say they’ve both sold their souls to the devil by behaving like common hoodrats for money. Why do the minorities always have to show up and show out? I would expect this behaviour from someone unknown, someone trying to make a name for themselves, or someone trying to reclaim the limelight. But these two are mega superstars, they shouldn’t be so eager to conform to the ‘trashy reality TV is good TV’ mindset.

American Idol is a singing competition, a serious singing competition. This isn’t one of those “Wives” shows on Bravo or VH1. This is a life-changing opportunity for the contestants and these two are watering down the notoriety of the competition by behaving like their careers are on their last leg and they need to get ratings or they’re going to end up on welfare. Clearly reality TV can bring the worst out of people.

What are your thoughts? Is this a legitimate beef or is it just another reality TV scam?
